About one day a week, I take a break from hiking and spend most of the day reading from people who are planning on hiking the trail or who have hiked the trail. The sites are found on the Pacific Crest Trail Association site and anyone can join the sharing of info that goes on there. You discover right away that some folks are serious about doing their homework preparing for the hike and some don't have a clue. It's a very helpful tool and for the most part, the people who join are serious. Occasionally, questions are asked that leave you laughing and wondering how they ever thought to consider doing this. It makes the work on a computer tolerable, as I do not enjoy sitting in a chair, staring at a screen for more than 10 minutes at a time without a good laugh.
You also get an opportunity to meet people on-line who catch your interest. I have known about this tool for a couple of months but am beginning to spend more time learning and listening to valuable advice and experiences. I have found several folks from Seattle since being in New Mexico that I would have connected with had I known they were there. Oh well. I may still get to meet some of them someday.
It's back to work tomorrow. Sunday's for me, are serious yoga days and have been for years. This is something I doubt will ever change, even when out on the trail. I've come to rely on all the gifts yoga has to offer in all facets of my life from focusing on whatever I'm doing to learning patience and understanding of my fellow humans. It is all soooo GOOD! Namaste.
